Since Nissan first announced the GT-R in 2007, the car that turned the supercar world on its head has been carefully evolved and tuned, and now in 2017 comes the third evolution. The basic spec hasn’t changed radically since it was launched. The 2+2 coupe configuration remains as does the 4.8-liter, twin-turbo, 24-valve V6. Every engine is assembled start-to-finish by the hand of one master technician in a clean room. The aluminum cylinder block features high endurance / low friction plasma sprayed bores through which aluminum pistons cycle to a maximum crank speed of 7,100 RPM. As a result, you get 565 horsepower at 6,800 RPM and 467 lb-ft of torque from 3,330 to 5,800 RPM through the fly-by-wire throttle beneath your right foot.

Evidence of Nissan’s incremental improvement is seen in the horsepower and torque increases since its debut. In 2009, the numbers were 480 and 430 respectively. From a standing start the car accelerated to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds in 2009. Today, it needs only 2.9 seconds. Drive still goes through an all-wheel drive system with an independent, rear-mounted transaxle and differential. Control comes through a dual-clutch 6-speed sequential gearbox with three drive modes, normal, save and R-Mode for maximum performance.

From behind the wheel, the Nissan GT-R ticks all the right boxes. The engine sits mostly behind the front axle line and the gearbox mostly in front of the rear axle. They are connected by a carbon-fiber prop-shaft. Moreover, the chassis is made up of front and rear subassemblies that are assembled in high-precision jigs with six mounting points. So, it may be a front engine coupe, but it feels more like a mid-engine GT.

On track, the dual intake, low-back pressure exhaust system plays a delicious harmony and when in R-Mode, the gearbox is able to pre-select the next gear to produce lightning fast upshifts that urge you to drive harder from corner to corner. Thanks to its construction, the Nissan GT-R retuned suspension offers plenty of mechanical grip from turn-in to mid-corner. Squeeze the power at the apex and the rear will slide with tire squealing delight, yet always in control. This car barks, but never bites. While I did have fun. when I had a similar with another provider I came away from the experience feeling like a better driver (like my skills as a driver had improved). I did not feel that way after my experience with you. Also it would have been nice if the instructor would have let me put the car in race mode, after all isn't that kinda the point. So to some up. If I'm being totally honest and a friend asked me if it was worth it I would say yes but I would recommend your competitor. Sorry. Feel free to contact me for clarification or for more detail.

I purchased 6 laps and got a 7th lap. It was my first time on the track and I had to slow down during at least 3 of the laps because I was passed by a more experienced driver. That limited my enjoyment as well as an opportunity to drive faster laps.

I've been here and done the driving experience with you guys probably 10 times. It's always been good but I don't need to sit through the classroom time or do the sighting lap anymore. I've done it enough. You need to make folks who've been here enough exempt. I showed up at 11:30 for my 11:30 appointment. I wasn't in the car until 1:30 and wasn't able to get outta there until 2:30. That took way too long. You need to streamline the process a little better. I'd suggest speeding up the classroom talk and getting a second sighting lap vehicle.

Everything regarding the in-car experience was awesome. The instructor continually pushed me to "go for it" while making me feel safe the entire time. Unfortunately everything else about the experience was less than spectacular. The entire check in / registration process seemed disorganized and the facility was not as advertised. The entire facility is a temporary structure sitting in the middle of the parking lot. On a very hot day, this makes it a very uncomfortable place to be. The "VIP" area is a roped off section next to a fan. The "cafe" is overpriced chips and drinks. There are no burgers, salads, and french-fries. The video is neat, but at $*** a pop it is not cost effective with a group. They do offer a ***% discount but after the money spent to race, that is really not a value for a video that only gets uploaded to a Google Drive for you to download at a later date. No physical copy is offered. I would do it again but would not bring family/friends as spectators. It is not a comfortable facility and the food (or really just snacks) may as well not be offered. If the video was less expensive, or you could walk away with a physical copy, it could be of value but at the current price, that money is better spent on maybe a real lunch at a restaurant after racing.

Having to slow and wait to pass others on the track takes away from the experience. When that happens another lap should be awarded. I didn't sign up and pay so much to sit in LA traffic. The tents were way too hot, you need better cooling systems. Other than that it was ok.

Some of the instructors seemed to really want to help you. Others had an attitude and ruined the experience. After driving the Hurracan, 458, and GTR I drove the 991 GT3. I regret tipping and not requesting a different intructor from the beginning. Went over every little thing like a robot even though it was my fourth car. He told me to stay in 3rd and only shift to 4th when he instructed. I forgot to tell me to downshift 2x ruining my lap time. then my best lap was ruined because an instructor passed me in a 458 with another instructor in it. I should have been offered extra lap to make up for the 3 ruined ones but he just rudely told me I was done and to follow the blue cones. This tall skinny kid had an attitude. I paid for 7 laps for 4 cars and then added another 5 laps for the Hurracan. Including tips, I spent $***. Had I gotten clean laps and not had to deal with the instructor in the 991 GT3, this would have been 5 stars. One of the other instructors was just okay but 2 were very good. I tipped all of them $***. One of my brothers instructors gave him extra laps because he had to wait to pass another car. I didn't get any extra laps and feel that at least 6 of my 33 laps were ruined.

Driving experience was way below my expectations. personally, I feel the cars were great, good condition, nice and clean. However, the track itself needs improvement. It was so short. Reminds me of autocross courses. I lapped the track in less than a minute, which meant my driving experience lasted 5 minutes. Also, I had couple of laps which were ruined by slower drivers in front of me. I was not able to experience or really enjoy the power and handling of the car. I honestly wanted to try more cars, but given the size of the track and car traffic, it was not worth it for me to try again.

The staff, cars and the instruction/intro phase were great. Very clear, helpful. However I am not sure I would ever recommend the experience to a friend - nor would i return without some changes. We had a group of five drivers and it was a first track experience for each of us. So, we obviously are new to the driving and we had probably somewhat unrealistic expectations. But when you drive a car touted at speeds of 190-200 MPH, and you barely reach 100, that's disappointing. The track seemed too full of cars. We were each passed on almost EVERY lap. And each time that happens (for me I was passed on nearly every turn before the longest straightaway), you lose speed, momentum, and it's pretty disheartening. I was passed twice by the Cayenne driving discovery laps...so, not by a paying customer, but by staff. The result is I never felt like I was able to fully unleash the car, and all of our lap times were useless because we're pulling to the side with hazard lights flashing. You need to either limit the number of cars, ask your staff not to disrupt paying customers, or at least say "hey, you didn't get many good laps - go ahead and take a 6th lap for free."

Had a good time..did not have the Nissan car I booked for the weekend but had an upgrade to the Lambourginii Hurican..two thumbs up for that. However when I looked at the video of my car I realized I was only given 4 laps instead of the 5 I was supposed to have. Bummer for that.
