Drive a Ferrari F430 F1 On a Racetrack!

“To say a Ferrari is fast is like saying that water is wet, but the F430 F1 is so much more”.

This famous quote from Davide Kluzer, Ferrari’s press representative, captures the essence of what makes driving a Ferrari F430 F1 so amazing. From the moment one sits behind the wheel of this pure Italian super pony, they quickly realize the Ferrari F430 F1 is more than just a supercar; the F430 is a work of art. read more >

The Pininfarina-styled aluminum bodywork is reminiscent of the Ferrari racing models of the 1960’s, in particular, the Ferrari 156 Grand Prix driven by the late Phil Hill who won the 1961 Formula One World Championship. This exterior design captures Ferrari’s extensive racing history down to the smallest details. The front air intakes are considerably larger than those found on the Ferrari F360 (the F430's predecessor). The F430 has raised Enzo-style taillights and a vented rear engine cover, these are only two minute aspects, which contribute to the F430 having a completely different look than the previous F360 model.

The cabin of the F430 blends Ferrari’s racing spirit with touches of luxury, suggesting the possibility that this prancing horse could be used as a daily driver. The seats are covered in fine leather that presents an elegant feel with touches of brushed aluminum, which compliment the curves of the dash panel. Large, well-placed paddles mounted on the steering column allow the driver to shift through gears in as little as 150 milliseconds, which is less than half the time it takes for the average human eye to blink.

The driver can customize driving preferences by adjusting the console-mounted manettino, that loosely translates to mean little handle or little manager. This rotary knob has 5 levels; each level alters the stability of the vehicle while also changing the level of aggression. The five positions assist the driver by making adjustments to shock valving, shifting speed and traction-control. In other words, set the level at zero and have full control of the vehicle, or turn the level to 5 and the car practically drives itself.

The engine of the Ferrari F430 is a 4.3L V8, derived from a collaborative effort between Ferrari and Maserati. This new engine took Ferrari in a completely different direction than previous variants of the Dino racing program, first developed in the 1950s. This 60 year development cycle between Dino and Ferrari came to an end with the creation of the 4.3L V8. This motor is expected to replace almost all Dino-derived V12 motors. The 4.3L V8 produces 490 horsepower at an screeching 8,500 rpm, illustrating the F430’s high performance pedigree. This allows the F430 to deliver 343 foot pounds of torque, with a top speed of 198 mph. The power plant of the F430 produces a horsepower to liter ratio of 114 bhp per liter. When comparing 0 to 60 times with the F360, Ferrari F430 drops 0 to 60 in just 3.9 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds faster than the F360.

Very seldom in the world of supercars do we get state-of-the-art technology packaged with such an exquisite interior design, superior attention to detail and breathtakingly powerful performance. Fiery Italian supercar passion creates the welds that hold it all together, engendering debate as to whether this is a racecar, a supercar, a luxurious work of art, or just simply the best car ever made. The Ferrari F430 F1 is definitely a vehicle that poses such a question.

Tips From A Pro

Since I was a child, I have always dreamed about driving a Ferrari. The F430 F1 has a special place in my heart because it was one of the first Ferraris I ever drove on track and it made me a Ferrari lover! The paddles are big and easy to use, the shifts are quick but still very smooth, and the F430 F1 makes a wonderful noise that just rings through the cabin.

The car I was driving (R8) didn’t have air, so the windows were down. I told the instructor I was nervous and didn’t want to go too fast. He didn’t give me any opportunity to use the paddle shifters which was disappointing since I have an A5 and practiced on that. I had a very hard time hearing him which I told him. I felt a lot of pressure to go fast and disappointment from him when I didn’t go as fast as what he wanted. Not a good time.

My issue is with the .vbo file for the overpriced video of my experience. I asked the sales person how to view the video. They said just download google drive and the video will download. She said if you have a computer it will open right away. I emailed for help and got no response. I called for help and no return call. I am searching how to open a .vbo file and there is not an application that I can find. Don’t buy the video. Maybe leaving a review will get some help.

Reserved and paid for a Lamborghini but that car was over heating as was the Ferrari I drove (had to do a slow cello down lap mid race) so I had to change to a Mercedes. I think I lost some value going from the Lamborghini to the Mercedes with no compensation offered.

I want to be clear about something before explaining my 2 star rating- I had an amazing, unforgettable 5 star experience. I came with a close friend of mine for his birthday, a car and race enthusiast, and it was something that the both of us will cherish for the rest of our lives- and we're local, so you'll likely be seeing us again! Secondly, I want to praise the staff that assisted us all the way through the process, especially my SECOND coach, ***, when I drove the 21 lap session in the Ferrari. His insightful and articulate instruction baked into his encouragement and passion made my experience everything I hoped for and SO MUCH MORE. He is an amazing coach, and I am so grateful that I had him in the car with me. He truly made the experience for me. I wish that I could say the same for ***, my first coach in my 5 warm up laps in the Porsche. I normally don't take the time to write bad reviews like these as I don't want affect anyone's livelihood and also want to be compassionate to the fact that we all have tough days from time to time. This, to me, however, was not that. From the moment I met him in check in area after the training, he was unwelcoming and cold. Then when we got on the track, his demeanor in the car was nothing short of unacceptable. His comments from beginning to end were condescending, rude, and his ability to explain what he wanted me to do in the car was near impossible to understand, especially on the fly in a car I've never driven before on a track I'd only seen from the back seat of an SUV. He insultingly laughed at me for not knowing which paddle shifter shifted as this was my first time driving paddle shifters. I understand traditional manual transmissions intimately as I drove a modified STi for 10 years. To have my instructor discouragingly laugh at me for something this simple was distracting to say the least- and this is all on the initial straight away just beginning my driving experience. As we moved through the track, his instructions came underscored with a clear tone of annoyance and judgement. Normally, I could not care less about something like this, but in a high stress environment where my absolute presence is required, I was constantly second guessing myself and consequently not enjoying being there at all. This continued on for the duration of the 5 laps. When we then parked, he gave this absurd convoluted debriefing that included him telling me that I "ignored" his instructions. Right there I almost just got out of the car disgusted with this person as I had just tried my hardest to navigate this extremely difficult-to-learn experience with this person barking commands that I didn't understand. It was truly unbelievable. He then begun to ask me about what I was driving next. His condescension about me driving 21 laps in a faster, more difficult car almost made me confront him right there but I wasn't there for that. I wanted to have an amazing day and wasn't going to let him ruin it. That said, I couldn't believe the fact that I was walking back into the building having these feelings of wanting to leave before even driving the Ferrari as I literally had zero enjoyment after weeks of excited anticipation leading up to coming to EXR. Thankfully though, ***, a consummate professional, turned my experience around in a matter of seconds before even reaching the car with his welcoming encouragement. Needless to say, if I return, which I truly hope to, I will make the demand that *** will not be a part of my experience. What's worth noting, is that my friend had literally the exact same comments about Nino. He may or may not write about him, and that's his business, but if you want him to corroborate that he had a similar experience, I will tell him to contact you if he hasn't already. I want to end on the fact that you guys are amazing. After our unfortunate time with ***, everything else, everyone else was amazing and we absolutely had the time of our lives despite what happened in the Porsche. Sincerely, ***

The concept is great. I wasn’t connecting very well with my instructor. I felt like he was pushing me for more than I was comfortable doing. I got a bit frazzled on the first lap and rather than giving me a lap to regain confidence he pushed me out of my comfort zone and I never felt like I could catch up to his instruction. My two friends had different instructors and really enjoyed it. But it was fairly miserable for me.

Great facility and cars, but I was very disappointed with the driving experience. My instructor took very little time explaining anything before getting onto the track. He didn't even help me to adjust my seat properly, as we were told they would during the in-class portion. Felt like he just wanted to get it over with as soon as possible and was not enthusiastic at all. While on the track, I was instructed to coast through corners at a leisurely place, much slower than the car could handle, and wasn't given good instructions overall on how to increase my lap times. I was also only allowed to use 3 of the car's 7 gears and the instructor would reach over and shift up for me if I shifted down to get in the power band. Obviously not all the gears are needed on this track, but I should have some freedom to downshift. The in-class instructor specifically told us that we pay for every RPM and we should use them. Otherwise, the facility was clean and organized, and being able to look at and sit in all the cars was great. Dude with long hair (can't remember his name) that gave us the in-class portion and the discovery laps was also great. But at the end of the day, you're paying the steep price for the driving itself, and after my experience I can't recommend it to other car enthusiasts looking for an exhilarating driving experience. I'd instead recommend taking your own car to a track. More fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Also, there's a 10% service charge which is really weird.

The experience of driving a dream car was great, but I felt a little bit rushed and herded. You guys were trying to get as many people through as you could which i understand but I felt like I didn't get any time to soak the experience up. Also, as a film student I was excited to get a video of my experience but I was very disappointed when I saw the quality of the footage. My phone in my pocket could have shot something with 3 times the resolution of the cameras in your cars.

I had fun, but I was not happy with the following. Constant up-selling. I was there to have fun, not make a bunch of buying decisions. You should have sent a menu with the confirmation on all the options - video - more laps, etc. I could have thought about the options at home and been prepared to buy or not buy - or even better upgraded before I got there. I am in marketing - if you would have offered me a bundle with a discount (more laps and the video) before I got there I might have bought. The price for the video seemed a bit high. The speaker system was way too loud. I had to sit for 20 minutes and cringe every time the gal screamed into the microphone - which was often. If I do it again, I would buy more than 5 laps.

1. Not having video in HD is was very disappointing. This was the main reason I did not buy the video. 2. It would be nice to get printed stats for each lap. and car. 3. I drive 3 card and one of them was a Lamborghini It had brakes problems - the car did not fill to be stable compare, for example to Ferrari, so Lamborghini experience was disappointing.
