Drive a Ferrari 430 Scuderia On a Racetrack!
With more power and less weight than a standard F430, the 430 Scuderia proves to be the benchmark of the 430 family. Scuderia is an Italian word which directly translates to stable of horses a term that dates back to medieval times representing a place where racing horses were gathered. Being that the power of a car is measured in horses, the name Scuderia directly represents the stable of horses that are gathered under the hood. read more >
Ferrari has adapted the term Scuderia to describe a “racing team” or “racing family," suggesting that development of a successful racing program or creation of a supercar is a combined effort derived from many influences. In America, the word Scuderia is commonly shortened down to just being “Scud”. A term popularized in the United States during the first Gulf War due to a devastatingly powerful medium range ballistic missile that shares the same name. Regardless of what side of the world you live on, the term Scuderia, or Scud, universally represents raw power, creating the perfect name.
The Scuderia is hands down, a stripped down version of the standard F430, designed to attract a track-bound audience. This strip down begins with the removal of unneeded racing extras such as the radio and speaker systems. Soundproofing materials have also been removed, making the Scuderia considerably louder, encasing the driver in a V8 howl that screams racecar! Throughout the entire cabin, molded carbon fiber replaces denser material that is commonly found in standard vehicles. Bare alloy floors combined with carbon fiber racing seats round out the most noticeable changes that result in almost 220 lbs less weight. The Scuderia interior definitely appeals to those individuals looking for the racing experience over luxury. Not-to-say that the Scuderia lacks class, the use of Alcantara faux suede to fill in the blanks creates a stunning balance of beauty and purpose. Several weight adding features have remained part of the interior; airbags and air-conditioning are the most notable. Airbags are a required feature for cars to be sold in the United States and the air-conditioning is a mandatory comfort piece depending on where the car is sold.
Designed to directly compete with the Lamborghini LP570-4 Superleggera(also available to be driven on our track) the Scuderia has considerably more power than the standard F430. Increased power arrives thru a revised intake, exhaust, and an ion-sensing knock-detection system that allows for a higher compression ratio (up from 11.3:1 to 11.75:1). The F1-SuperFast 2 transmission allows for powerful 60 millisecond shift-times that are controlled by carbon-fiber paddle shifters attached to the steering column. The Scuderia power plant is a quad-cam 4.3 liter V8 that produces 510 hp with 347 foot-pounds of torque. This produces a 0-60-mph in less than 3.6 seconds, with a quarter mile time just under 11 seconds. Top Speed for the Ferrari F430 Scuderia is a mere 199 mph!
One of the most significant features on the Ferrari F430 Scuderia is the custom built, carbon-ceramic brakes. This feature eliminates any unwanted vibration even when the brakes are pushed to the limit. These disks have been increased from the standard 380mm (found on the F430) to 398 mm, creating a disk so large that it barely fits behind the wheel. All of these improvements result in the Scuderia’s ability to drop from 60 mph to a dead stop in less than 95 feet!
Several advanced safety features are active on the Ferrari F430 Scuderia. One of the most impressive is the E-diff2, a limited slip active differential, controlled by a state-of-art computer system. This allows the driver to maintain full control of the vehicle even at a high rate of speed. Antilock brakes come standard on the Scuderia. Seatbelts in the Scuderia come equipped with height adjustable safety belts, all seatbelts are equipped with pre-tensioners. These pre-tensioners automatically tighten seatbelts to place the occupant in the best seating position during a collision.
If Ferrari’s intent was to create a vehicle that is separate and distinct from the F430, then Ferrari has achieved this goal. Almost every aspect of the car has been improved over the F430; some sections have received subtle changes while others have received a complete overhaul. The end result is a driving experience like no other. The Scuderia embodies every aspect of the racing spirit while delivering an enjoyable, heart-pounding good time.less >
