Ford surprised the automotive world when they debuted the 2017 Ford GT at the Detroit Auto Show. A while back Ford announced that they would enter a new GT in the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans, so we knew a production version was in development, but no one knew how incredible the new GT would be until now. The new GT takes a, “more power paired with a lot more capability to use it,” approach. 600 horse power to be exact.
Beautiful machinery
The carbon-fiber monocoque frame -meaning this beast is light- is by an aluminum subframe to help keep all 600 horses under the drivers’ control. Ford isn’t getting a fancy AWD system, but Ford did add an adaptive suspension that can be raised and lowered as needed along with a spoiler that adapts to the speed of the car, keeping it firmly planted on the track.
